This chart shows the most common display resolutions, with the color of each resolution type indicating the display ratio (e.g. red indicates a 4:3 ratio). This article lists computer monitor screen resolutions that are defined by standards or in common use. Most of them use certain preferred numbers. Computer graphics[edit]Pixel aspect ratio (PAR)The horizontal to vertical ratio of each pixel.Storage aspect ratio (SAR)The horizontal to vertical ratio of solely the number of pixels in each direction.[note 1]Display aspect ratio (DAR)The combination (which occurs by multiplication) of both the pixel aspect ratio and storage aspect ratio giving the aspect ratio as experienced by the viewer. Computer and handheld screens
Television and Media[edit]For television, the display aspect ratio (DAR) is shown, not the storage aspect ratio (SAR); analog television does not have well-defined pixels, while several digital television standards have non-square pixels. Analog Systems[edit]Analog broadcast television systems
Digital Standards[edit]Digital television broadcast and video media distribution standards
Many of these resolutions are also used for video files that are not broadcast. These may also use other aspect ratios by cropping otherwise black bars at the top and bottom which result from cinema aspect ratios greater than 16∶9, such as 1.85 or 2.35 through 2.40 (dubbed "Cinemascope", "21∶9" etc.), while the standard horizontal resolution, e.g. 1920 pixels, is usually kept. The vertical resolution is usually a multiple of 8 or 16 pixels due to most video codecs processing pixels on such sized blocks. A widescreen FHD video can be 1920 × 800 for a 12∶5 ratio or 1920 × 1040 for roughly 1.85 × 1, for instance. Films[edit]Digital film standards
The below distinguish SAR (aspect ratio of pixel dimensions), DAR (aspect ratio of displayed image dimensions), and the corresponding PAR (aspect ratio of individual pixels), though it currently contains some errors (inconsistencies), as flagged.

What is the term for the particular resolution at which LCD monitors display the sharpest images and clearest text?In most displays and digital images, resolution is expressed as PPI, which refers to the number of pixels that can be displayed over one inch of the screen or display. A high PPI means there are more pixels in every inch, which results in a higher resolution and a crisper image.
Which of the following display standards has the highest screen resolution?About 8K Resolution: 8K resolution measures at 7680 x 4320 pixels and is currently the highest monitor resolution currently available.
Which of the following tools features allows you to quickly minimize all open windows? You can also use the shortcut key "Windows logo key+m" to minimize all the windows.
What is the background display on a monitor called? The screen background is known as the Desktop. Wallpaper and background are digital images used as a background for a computer screen, smartphone or other electronic machines.
