ABO blood types can be complicated to understand. This is mostly due to the fact that the 'O-type' antigen is masked by the presence of an A- or B-type antigen. This is explained in the following chart, showing the different the genotypes that make up the blood types.
For example, two O blood type parents can produce a child with only O blood type. Two parents with A blood type can produce a child with either A or O blood types. Two parents with B blood type can produce a child with either B or O blood type. One parent with A and another with B can produce a child with A, B, AB or O blood types. If one parent has A and another has AB, they can either produce a child with A, B or AB blood types. If one parent has A and another has O, they can either produce a child with A or O blood types. Rh Positive (Rh+) and Negative (Rh-) Blood Types The Rh (+/-) factor is inherited separately from the ABO blood types. Similarly to the masking effect of the O gene in ABO blood types, the Rh negative (Rh-) gene is also masked by the presence of a Rh positive (Rh+) genotype. Therefore, a person may have a Rh + blood type and can still have an Rh - gene (See the chart below). Furthermore, 2 parents with Rh + blood types can have a child with Rh - blood type.
Women LiarsNational Survey UK5,000 womenScotland's National Newspaper 96% of women are liars, honestThe Scotsman, Scotland's National Newspaper NINETEEN out of 20 women admit lying to their partners or husbands, a survey on attitudes to truth and relationships has found. Eighty-three per cent owned up to telling "big, life-changing lies", with 13 per cent saying they did so frequently. Half said that if they became pregnant by another man but wanted to stay with their partner, they would lie about the baby's real father. Forty-two per cent would lie about contraception in order to get pregnant, no matter the wishes of their partner. And an alarming 31 per cent said they would not tell a future partner if they had a sexual disease: this rises to 65 per cent among single women. There are four main blood types: A, AB, B and O. AB positive is considered the universal recipient, and O negative is considered the universal donor. Blood type frequency (U.S. population)
Your ABO blood type is based on the presence or absence of the A and B antigens on your red blood cells. The A blood type has only the A antigen and the B blood type has only the B antigen. The AB blood type has both A and B antigens, and the O blood type has neither A nor B antigen. By the time you are 6 months old, you naturally develop antibodies against the antigens your red blood cells lack. For instance, a person with A blood type will have anti-B antibodies, and a person with B blood type will have anti-A antibodies. If you have type A blood, you cannot receive B blood because your body's anti-B antibodies will fight the B blood's B antigens. It is crucial we have all blood types available to our patients.
Can parents with blood type A and AB have an O child?Usually, an AB parent and an A parent can only have children who are Type A or Type B. One exception is in certain Asian groups. Some of these folks have a rare version of the ABO blood type gene called cis-AB. People with this gene version have an AB blood type but can easily have an O child.
Can a couple with both Type B blood types have a child who is type O?Yes, it is possible for a couple whose blood groups are A and B to bear a child with blood group O. A couple that is both heterozygous for type A and type B blood can bear a child with type O blood. If both parents are heterozygous, then they have the recessive gene for type O blood.
What blood type if parents are AB and A?If one parent has A and another has AB, they can either produce a child with A, B or AB blood types. If one parent has A and another has O, they can either produce a child with A or O blood types.
Could a man with an O blood type be the father of an AB child?Answer and Explanation: A man with type O blood would not be able to produce a child with type AB blood regardless of the mothers blood type. This is because type O blood is recessive and these individuals have two O alleles so the only allele they would be able to pass to a child would be "O".
