Given:

Sum of Rs. 500/- for 3 years at simple interest at 5% per annum.

Formula used:

Amount = S.I + P

Simple interest(S.I) = (P × R × T)/100

P = Principal, R = rate, T = time

Calculation:

According to the question,

P = Rs. 500, R = 5%, T = 3 years

S.I = (P × R × T)/100

⇒ (500 × 5 × 3)/100

⇒ Rs. 75

Amount = S.I + P

⇒ 500 + 75

⇒ Rs. 575

∴ The amount is Rs. 575.
